| Description: |
On March 13, 2025 a sinkhole approximately 12 feet across and 10 feet deep opened up on the Northeast corner of the Mill Valley High School (MVHS) Campus. The source of the sinkhole is a failed 69"x96" corrugated metal arch pipe (CMAP) that was installed in 1999. Stormwater staff, On-call Engineering Staff and contractors walked through the pipe and determined that immediate replacement or rehabilitation of the entire 620 LF stormwater network is required. It runs along the frontage of MVHS, crosses Monticello and outlets at a stream on the east side of Monticello Road. This will necessitate the closure of Monticello Road during construction in front of MVHS and every attempt will be made to complete the necessary work during the summer break. The proposed project includes stabilization and lining of 454 LF of pipe in the greenway of MVHS and replacement of 155 LF of the pipe under Monticello Road, including a new headwall outfall structure and the addition of a connecting junction box. This emergency replacement is proposed for immediate design, bidding and construction, with completion of road work by mid-August 2025. Full completion will be after fall sod season. |

Final Plans are complete and are on the April 28, 2025 Council Meeting Agenda for advertising for construction bids. In addition, proposals to purchase the precast structures and geopolymer lining services for the 69" x96" corrugated metal pipe are also on the agenda for Governing Body approval. |
