49th Ter and Roundtree Emergency Streambank Stabilization Project
Name: 49th Ter and Roundtree Emergency Streambank Stabilization Project
Date Updated: 07-01-2024
Contact: Cynthia Moeller-Krass
Project Status: Design
Description: Biannually the city is required to do bridge inspections. Recent bridge inspections have noted deficiencies of the Bridge No.50 which is a pedestrian bridge associated with Garrett Park near 49th Terrace and Roundtree. The most recent bridge inspection noted scour is occurring in the stream under the bridge and the geotextile and riprap is missing immediately downstream of the bridge. This pedestrian bridge crosses over a tributary to the Kansas River and a significant head cut has come up this channel. The head cut is approximate 8 feet deep and 8 feet wide. This cut has also started side cuts towards to city-owned stormwater pipes just downstream of Bridge No. 50. The proposed emergency project for 2024 includes stabilizing about 100 LF of channel with grade control structures and riprap and also includes localized stabilization at the 2 downstream stormwater outfalls approximately 45 (C-5731)  and 350 LF (C-5991) downstream of bridge. This emergency stabilization will be funded by a transfer from the General Fund to the Stormwater Utility Fund.
Status Details: Engineering Design and Construction Services Addendum to 2024 Stormwater Management Program On-call Contract is on the July 8th City Council Meeting Agenda for approval.
