| Description: |
83rd Street and Monticello Road is an intersection on the Shawnee/Lenexa border. Citizens from both cities regularly express their concerns about the safety of the intersection with the current two-way stop configuration. Additionally, the Monticello Road project will be completed in 2022, which will push more traffic through this intersection and will open up the surrounding area to additional development. To ensure this intersection continues to operate safely, Shawnee and Lenexa staff have collaborated on a traffic signal project at this intersection with project costs being split by the two cities. |

Lenexa is leading design effort while utilizing HNTB as their design consultant. The project is on schedule for 2023 Construction.
Traffic Signal Loops - Capital Electric said this has taken them longer than they anticipated so they’ll be done by Friday October 13, 2023.
McAnany paving scheduled to start on the October 17th and should be done Friday the October 20th.
Striping is set up for some time the week of October 23rd. There will be temporary tabs put in the pavement until permanent striping is installed. |
